WAEC Announces Date to Release 2025 WASSCE Results

The examination body in Nigeria, WAEC announces date to release 2025 WASSCE Results.

Students who took the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) can now expect to receive their results shortly, as the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced plans to release them on or before Monday, August 4, 2025.

The announcement is part of the Council’s response to recent internet misinformation claiming that the full May/June exam had been cancelled. In an official statement issued on Sunday, WAEC denied the notion and assured the public that script marking was already complete.

“The said examination has not been cancelled. Though the source of that information cannot be ascertained, the Council is certain that the false claim is being peddled by mischief-makers who are bent on bringing the Council to disrepute. This is to cause confusion and panic among candidates who sat the examination”, this was explained by Moyosola Adesina, WAEC’s Acting Head of Public Affairs.

The Council announced that the marking procedure has recently finished, paving the way for the prompt presentation of the long-awaited results.

By confirming the August 4 date, WAEC hopes to reassure applicants, parents, and schools that the test process is still on schedule, despite attempts by unknown sources to cause confusion.

WAEC also used the occasion to remind the public that all legitimate information about its exams is only published through verified social media handles and reputable media sites.

“The Council further stressed that all information from the Council are disseminated via its official and verified social media handles, as well as accredited media platforms across the country,” the statement noted.

Any formal press statement, it stated, must be signed by the Public Affairs Department on behalf of the Head of National Office.

The viral letter that caused student worry claimed widespread malfeasance and question paper leaks as reasons for the alleged cancellation of the 2025 WASSCE.

However, WAEC denounced this story as a fabrication with no basis. By announcing a specific release date, the testing authority seeks to allay worries and restore confidence among students and other stakeholders who have been waiting months for the results of their preparation and study.

WAEC concluded by urging candidates and the public to be patient and vigilant, recommending them to disregard unofficial remarks and rely entirely on the Council’s official communication channels for accurate updates.

With the release date fixed, the focus has switched to how students will perform and what the results may indicate for admissions and next academic steps.
