Approved Pent Hostels Rate For 2025/26 Academic Year

The 2024/25 academic year is set to end by September, and here are the approved Pent hostels rates for the 2025/26 academic year. These new rates come right from the new management of the hostel.

The Management of the African Union Hall (Pentagon) at the University of Ghana, operated by Ghana Hostels Limited (GHL), has released its new hostel fees for the 2025/2026 academic year. The new prices have seen an increase in all the types of rooms.

Their new directive was released in an official statement, accompanied by reasons why the increase was done as well. According to the new prices, a one in a room with AC at the new pent is going for 40,329.00 Ghana Cedis. Again, a one in a room without AC at the same new pent is going for 24,835.00 Ghana Cedis.

At the new pent as well, a 2 in a room with AC is going for 21,426.00 Ghana Cedis and the one without AC is also going for 17,247.00 Ghana Cedis.

A 4 in a room at the new pent is also going for 8,976.00 Ghana Cedis, with just 24 Cedis short of it being 9,000 Ghana Cedis. A 2 in a room at the Old pent, which is a shared facility, is also going for 14,363.00 Ghana Cedis, and a 4 in a room at the same old pent with a shared facility is also going for 7,492.00 Ghana Cedis.

Per the new approved fees, the lowest rate for a shared 4-in-a-room at the old Pent has seen an absurd spike from GHS5,995 to GHS7,492. Also, the highest fee now stands at GHS40,000 for a 1-in-a-room at the new pent with air conditioning and an ensuite facility. Initially, the price for the 1-in-a-room with AC was GHS27,769.

According to the Ghana Hostels Limited (GHL), the increment in all the rooms reflects the rise in cost of living in the capital. They also related their increase to upgrading of the rooms, maintenance materials, and utility tariff hikes.
