JAMB form errors might lead to admission disqualification or a delay owing to data discrepancies. Before you begin filling out the form, you should have a valid NIN, email address, and phone number. Before submitting the form, double-check all the details, such as your institution, course preference, and personal information.

Filling out the JAMB form might be challenging, especially for first-time applicants. A concise, step-by-step instruction simplifies the process and helps you avoid frequent errors.

The following is a step-by-step guide to correctly filling out the JAMB form:

The JAMB form comprises five sections (A through E) that you must complete, with the final section (F) for official use only.

Section A: Personal Information

This area requires you to submit accurate foundational information. The information you enter here must match the information in the National Identity Management Commission’s database. Here’s how to complete this section:

Profile code: You cannot complete the JAMB form without first creating a profile code. If you do not already have the code, SMS your NIN to 55019, and you will receive a 10-digit number on your phone shortly. Enter the code into the profile code space.

PIN: Using your profile code, you can now purchase the JAMB ePIN via a bank, mobile money agent, or online platform such as Remita or Quickteller. Ensure that your payment information matches your profile code.

Full Name: Enter your surname, first name, and middle name in the slots provided. It is critical to follow the name order and make no spelling errors.

Date of birth: Enter your true date of birth. Make sure you use the date format DD/MM/YYYY.

Sex: Please provide your gender, whether you are male or female.

Marital status: Indicate whether you are married or not by selecting ‘Single’ or ‘Married’. If you are single, omit the maiden and previous names; if you are married, provide the maiden and previous names.

GSM: This is the mobile phone number you used to obtain your profile code, which is linked to your National Identification Number (NIN).

Nationality: If you are from Nigeria, put Nigerian; if you are a foreigner, write the nationality of your country.

State of origin/L.G.A: For Nigerians, please provide your state and local government area of origin in the fields provided. Non-Nigerians should avoid these locations.

NIN Update: If you corrected your biodata at NIMC after your last registration, check the Yes box; otherwise, check the No box.

Section B: Other Information

This part needs you to enter critical information regarding your physical condition, contact information, and exam choices. Here’s a full tutorial on filling out the section:

Disability/challenges: Tick the appropriate box to indicate if you have a disability or challenge. If it appears in the list, write it in the space provided.

Email address: Please enter a valid email address. Most communications will be sent via this email address, therefore there is no room for error. You will not be able to modify your email address after completing the JAMB registration.

Contact information: Where do you live? Please provide the address of your current place or house.

Preferred state of exam: Your home state may not be your preferred state of exam. As a result, specify the state where you want to take the JAMB exam.

Examination centre: After selecting your preferred state of exam, specify the town in that state where you want to take the exam. Keep in mind that not every town qualifies, so you must select an accredited JAMB CBT centre. The JAMB official website lists the centres.

JAMB mock exam: Before the JAMB exam, an optional mock exam is administered. Tick the appropriate box to indicate whether you want to write the mock exam. If you want to take the mock exam, please provide the mock exam state and town.

Section C: Preferred Institutions

You can select up to four educational institutions, including a mix of universities, polytechnics, and colleges. This section allows you to rank your preferred institutions in order of preference, from first to fourth.

You also indicate which programs you would like to pursue if accepted into the institutions. Most institutions require that you make them your first choice in order to be considered for admission.

Remember that your first choice could be a college of education, a university, an innovation enterprise institute, a polytechnic/monotechnic, the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), or the Nigeria Police Academy. Your second option could be a university, polytechnic, or college of education.

Section D: UTME Subjects

This is the section where you indicate which subjects you want to take for the JAMB exam. When selecting subjects, keep the course you want to pursue in mind, as this will help you make the best JAMB subject combination.

Consult widely and avoid making mistakes, as incorrect UTME subjects can prevent admission.

Section E: O-Level Information

In this section, you will provide information about the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and the National Examinations Council. Indicate subjects, grade, year, and exam numbers in the School/Private column.

If you wrote GCE, select Private; otherwise, select school. If you have not yet taken the WAEC, indicate which subjects you intend to take and write AR (Awaiting Results) in the grade column. Fill out the form by entering your name and date, then sign in the spaces provided.
