Post-BECE processes before results are released

The 2025 BECE has been projected to be released by 17th August 2025, but the big question is, what are the post-BECE processes before results are released?

Result Scrutiny and Handling of Irregularities:

When the marking is completed, WAEC will initiate post-marking processes, which include vetting of marked scripts, data entry, and investigation of alleged and suspected examination malpractices. At this stage there is a series of scrutinies of results. This is part of efforts by WAEC to ensure accurate data entry and processing.

Addressing Malpractice:

For all BECE candidates who are suspected to have engaged in any form of examination malpractice, WAEC initiated investigations at this state. Where WAEC is convinced based on evidence available, the results of the student or school may be withheld pending thorough investigation.

Data Processing and Verification:

WAEC ensures the accurate entry and processing of all candidate data, including grades and other relevant information, before results are finalized.

Release of results on WAEC’s portal

Once WAEC is certified that it has done due diligence in the post-examination processes, it goes ahead to upload the result on its BECE result portal. This is, however, done only after a council meeting and the release of result checkers.

Result Distribution and Re-marking Requests:

WAEC provides results listings to schools, allowing them to inform candidates about their performance. Candidates can also access their individual results online after paying the necessary fees.

Candidates and parents who wish to have their scripts re-marked can submit requests within a specified timeframe after the results are released.
