With just two weeks to go, WAEC EXAM TIPS has begun releasing its annual projected questions. Below are our well-analyzed WASSCE 2026 English Language sample questions designed to help candidates excel.
Official Examination Dates: Candidates and teachers should take note of the specific dates for the English Language papers as per the WAEC schedule:
Oral English (Paper 3): The Oral English examination for the 2026 WASSCE is scheduled for Wednesday, 19th August 2026.
English Language (Core): The theory, objectives, and essay papers (Papers 1 & 2) will be written on Thursday, 3rd September 2026.
Candidates are encouraged to use these remaining days to master their summary writing, essay structures, and grammatical proficiency.
Here are some few English language sample essay questions for WASSCE 2026. Candidates are advised to read through well and try their hands on all of them.
Candidates are to note that you are supposed to spend just 50 minutes on the essay section to balance time; also, write up to 450 words.
WASSCE 2026 English Language Sample Essay Questions
1. Write a story that ends with the expression “It was indeed my lucky day.”
2. Write a letter to your friend in another school describing the end-of-year activities in your school.
3. There has been a drastic fall in the quality of social amenities in your community. Write a letter to the Commissioner for Public Utilities, stating what inconveniences your people have suffered as a result of this.
4. A youth club is organizing a series of talks meant to stimulate members to prepare adequately for the future. As a youth leader, you have been invited to give a talk on “My dream for the future.” Write your speech.
5. There is a public outcry against electoral malpractice in your country. Write an article to be published in one of your national newspapers discussing, at least, three ways of stopping the trend.
Candidates are to note that in the official paper, you are only allowed to select just one question. Again, candidates are advised to select the one they are comfortable and have more points to.
When a question demands you to list problems, make sure to suggest at least some possible solutions to them and, if possible, the cause of those problems. This will give you an upper hand even before marking.
