3 Things JAMB Found Out About UTME 2025 Top Scorer Chinedu Okeke
Here are 3 things the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board found about UTME 2025 top scorer Chinedu Okeke.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has moved to clear the air over trending controversies surrounding Chinedu Okeke, the candidate who recently topped the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
In an official statement released by the board, JAMB described the controversy around Chinedu Okeke as rooted more in sentiment than in evidence, accusing some people of defending wrongdoing instead of demanding accountability.
JAMB insisted that its findings, based on verified records, point to troubling inconsistencies and misleading information in Chinedu’s history and documents, raising suspicious doubts about his conduct and intentions.
Here are some key findings from the board’s investigation that challenge the viral narrative celebrating Okeke’s UTME win:
Chinedu Okeke Previously Sat For UTME in 2021
JAMB revealed that Chinedu Okeke had already written the UTME in 2021, and gained admission into the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), to study Medicine and Surgery.
As things stand, he is now in his fourth year of the medical programme, and the university’s student records have not contradicted this information.
False State of Origin From UTME 2025 Top Scorer
Contrary to viral shared claims that Chinedu hails from Anambra State, JAMB confirmed through official documents that he is from Amuwo-Odofin Local Government in Lagos State.
This information, came directly from the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) data used during Okeke’s 2021 UTME registration, and has not been challenged by his current institution.
Manipulation of Evidence
The Board revealed that Chinedu’s personal data, submitted for the 2025 UTME, did not match entirely with what he used in 2021(the first time he sat for the UTME).
“The evidence suggests that Chinedu altered his records as filled in 2021 prior to registering for the 2025 UTME, a fact confirmed by even his own advocates,” JAMB stated.
The Board rejected claims that it retrieved incorrect data from NIMC, insisting instead that its responsibility is only to use what candidates provide.
This is a more serious allegation and a manipulative thing to do. Chinedu benefitted from Lagos State’s quota in 2021 when he secured admission to UNN, which potentially blocked the chance of other qualifying candidates.
Again, in 2025, he tried to switch identity to claim he hails from Anambra State, thereby seeking to benefit from their state quota in 2025. This act is inconsistent with national policy and undermines fairness in admission processes.
